I think just gifting products isn't enough! It'd be really cool to be able to purchase and give out gift certificates, and it would probably be good for promoting the store too.
It may also be nice to be able to pass out developer specific GCs to people (paid for of course!). That way we could use them for contest prizes and such.

Guess what? We have been working on that the past week. Gift Certificates should be available within the next week or so!! Also, subscriptions that will provide a monthly or weekly allowance of credits for users.

Gift certificates are available now!
There is a box in the left-hand sidebar column on the store pages that will take you to the gift certificate page. You can buy them in denominations of $5, $10, $25, $50, and $100. When you check out in the CDG store, there is a link on the PayPal page that says "Enter Gift Certificate, Coupon, or Reward". When you click on the link, there is a place to enter your gift certificate number. If the value of the gift certificate is larger than the order total, you can use rest of the gift certificate's value on a future order.
You can specify an email address for recipient when you buy the gift certificate, and it will be restricted to that person. Or you can leave the email address blank and give the certificate to whomever you like. You can even do printable certificates that you can give people as physical gifts.
BTW...you can't buy a gift certificate for yourself and use it. Paypal will not let you use a gift certiificate that you bought. Not sure why, but that's their rules.

Regarding subscriptions, we are pretty close to having subscriptions in the IMaginationsVU gallery that will let people buy additional space for their images. The subscriptions in the store for monthly allowances depend on the code I am writing for the gallery subscriptions, so they will come slightly afterwards.
